After only 45 days in office, British Prime Minister Liz Truss has quit.
The embattled leader resigned on Thursday after she was forced to abandon many of her economic policies and lost control of the Conservative Party.
Just a day earlier, Truss had vowed to stay in power, saying she was “a fighter and not a quitter.”
Her departure leaves a divided party once again seeking a new leader and the UK facing the prospect of a third prime minister since 2019.
