An Alberta-based construction company is facing a hefty fine after a worker was seriously injured by an electric shock while working near Maple Creek.
According to the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Neu-Build Construction Inc. was hit with a $25,000 fine and a $10,000 surcharge in a Swift Current courtroom last week in connection with an incident dating back to October of 2020.
A worker was stabilizing trusses when they were electrocuted, the ministry said, leaving the worker seriously injured.
The company was found to have contravened occupational health and safety regulations, which set out a minimum distance for work near exposed, energized electrical conductors.
One additional charge was stayed.
