Somebody subtracted more than $3,000 in fuel from Horizon School Division vehicles in February.
In a release Friday, the Saskatchewan government reported three losses by Saskatchewan school divisions in the second quarter of the fiscal year, which ran from December to February.
The Horizon School Division, which is based in Humboldt, reported $3,043 worth of gas was stolen from the fuel tanks of school vehicles in Ituna and Punnichy.
The division said the theft was reported to the RCMP and the school division’s insurance provider. The report noted it’s unknown whether insurance will cover the loss.
The second loss was reported by the Yorkton-based Good Spirit School Division, which said a laptop owned by the division was stolen from a hotel while an employee was travelling in January.
According to the report, police were notified about the theft of the $1,200 computer.
“The laptop serial number was noted but it has not been found,” the report said. “When notified of the loss, the school division immediately and remotely changed the password on the laptop.”
The third loss was reported in August by the Northern Lights School Division, which said an employee inappropriately charged $500 on a vehicle fleet credit card.
The report said the employee was fired, but the funds have not yet been recovered by the division based in La Ronge.
