The Saskatchewan government is helping foot the bill for some road work in the province.
The government announced Tuesday it’s investing $13 million through the Rural Integrated Roads for Growth (RIRG) program to help with 34 road construction projects worth a total of $47 million around the province.
“The RIRG program has been a successful partnership program with the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) for many years,” Highways Minister Jeremy Cockrill said in a release. “These investments in rural economies promote growth and prioritize the safety and quality of roads and bridges in rural Saskatchewan.”
Financial support goes to RMs to help cover the cost of building and upgrading rural infrastructure. The program grants cover up to 50 per cent of each project’s total cost, to a maximum of $500,000.
The government’s investments range from $50,675 to help with clay cap work in the RM of Ituna Bon Accord to $500,000 for 17 projects around Saskatchewan.
