8:30 – A new enhanced law enforcement presence in the form of the Saskatchewan Marshals Service has only just recently been formed in the province. Rob Cameron is the new chief of the service, with his official first day in the role being January 1, 2024. He sits down with Evan to discuss his vision for the new police service, how they will be deployed, what they will do to increase safety and how the service will stay free from political interference.

10:00 – More programs are finding ways to help connect people with Indigenous languages. The Hug-a-Tree and Survive program, through AdventureSmart, offers free resources and videos in both official languages, as well as Plains, Woodland Cree, Dene and Michif, to help keep kids safe in the woods. Regional coordinator, Linda Mushanski, sits down with Evan to talk about these first Indigenous language resources produced by their organization’s Langauge Keepers.

10:15 – After learning more about search and rescue efforts over the past year in Saskatchewan earlier this week on the show, Evan sits down with retired Regina Police Service member, Jim Pratt, who was in charge of coordinating the search efforts for Tamara Keepness in 2003, to learn about the efforts in that search for a little girl who, to this day, has not been found.

10:30 – Paul Martin, Rawlco business analyst, sits down with Evan to discuss Saskatchewan’s 2024 energy outlook — continuing the conversation started on Wednesday with reporter Brian Zinchuk. Martin will delve into the big topics listeners are concerned about, including the transition away from coal and towards clean energy regulations and small microreactors.

11:00 – After a number of recent fires in Regina, including the days-long blaze at Wheat City Metals, and concerns about ice safety with some Saskatchewan lakes boasting open water spots in January, Regina’s fire chief, Layne Jackson, joins Evan for this fire and ice segment.

11:30 – Changes are coming to Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) legislation this year in Canada. Dr. Donna Stewart is one of Canada’s leading experts in MAiD. She is a professor at the University of Toronto as well as a member of the Canadian Psychiatric Association Working Group on MAiD, the Canadian Association of MAiD Assessors and Providers, and Dying with Dignity. She joins Evan to discuss what those changes in 2024 to MAiD will mean for Canadians and to answer listeners’ questions about the new changes to the program.
