A Regina man who stabbed his mother to death in January of 2022 has been found not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder.
A Court of King’s Bench justice read her decision regarding 36-year-old Raefe Aeron Mahadeo on Monday.
He was arrested Jan. 4, 2022, after the body of 63-year-old Deborah Mae Mahadeo was found in a house in the 1600 block of Toronto Street.
At the time, a police spokesperson confirmed the accused was the son of the victim.
Mahadeo initially was charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded not guilty due to his mental disorder.
