A 39-year-old man is facing a murder charge after a woman’s death on a Saskatchewan First Nation.
According to the RCMP, the File Hills Police Service was notified of an injured person at a home on the Okanese First Nation early on Tuesday morning.

At the home, the officers found 32-year-old Amanda Keewatin, a member of the Peepeekisis Cree Nation, who was pronounced dead by paramedics.
At the scene, police arrested 39-year-old James Stonechild, a resident of the Okanese First Nation. He is now facing a charge of second-degree murder, the RCMP said, and is expected to appear in court in Regina on Wednesday afternoon.
The Okanese First Nation is located about 16 kilometres northeast of Fort Qu’Appelle.
