Nelson Lokobmo has been announced as the latest Rider to sign a contract extension.
The Abbotsford, B.C., product will return for his fifth CFL season. The Riders selected the former University of Saskatchewan Huskie second overall in the 2021 CFL Draft.
Lokombo played all 18 regular season games in 2024, 17 of those games at safety. The 25-year-old set a career-high in defensive tackles (44) and also recorded his first career sack. Lokombo also recorded his first career interception in the CFL West semifinal to help the Riders defeat the B.C. Lions.

Collegiately, Lokombo was recognized with the President’s Trophy in 2019. That award is given out to the top defensive player in U Sports. That year he made 39 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and five interceptions — two of them returned for touchdowns.
His career got off to a rocky start as he was one of four members of the Riders who suffered a torn Achilles tendon ahead of 2021 training camp.
Lokombo was set to become a free agent on Feb. 11.
