Elementary schools across Regina will soon have empty hallways, as students celebrate their last day of school on Wednesday.
The excitement was definitely in the air at École Connaught School, where kids were smiling from ear to ear, counting down the minutes to the final bell and the official start of summer vacation.

Mia Wolfe said she can’t wait for the summer break.
“I’m excited that I can swim all summer and play around all day with my friends,” she said. “A bunch of our family lives out at Regina Beach, so we usually stay at their place.”
But, she said, she will miss her school friends over the summer.
Ellie Wolfe was also eager to head to the lake.
“I’m excited to visit my family and go swimming and have lots of fun,” she said.
Rowan Wolfe said she’s excited to go to Alberta during the summer break.
“I’m really excited to go to the Calgary Stampede and just spend time with my family,” she said.
But while she’s excited for the trip and the time off, Wolfe said she will miss her teacher.
“I am definitely going to miss my teacher because she is moving to a new school,” she said.
While school is out for the summer, the Regina Police Service is reminding people that safety is still a priority. In a social media post, the police force noted that school zones speeds stay at 30 km/h all summer long.

The police service reminded young people to look both ways before crossing the street, go out with a friend, and tell their parents where they’re going.
Elementary students in both Regina Public Schools and Regina Catholic Schools have early dismissal on Wednesday to kick off their summer vacation just a little bit sooner.
