A 62-year-old man is dead following a vehicle collision with a pedestrian on Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation.
Rosthern RCMP were called to the scene on July 14, just before 11 p.m.
The man from Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. His family has been notified.
On July 15, just after 1 a.m., the driver of the vehicle was arrested at a nearby home.
An 18-year-old man from the Nation has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and causing death, failing to stop after an accident and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
Rosthern RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
Nipawin RCMP investigating fatal wildlife collision
On July 14, at around 10:30 p.m., Nipawin RCMP got a report of a “serious” collision with a moose on Highway #55, near the village of Smeaton.
A passenger in the vehicle was declared dead by EMS at the scene.
He’s been identified as a 50-year-old man from Prince Albert, his family has been notified.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Another passenger reported no physical injuries to police.
Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate.
