The body of 40-year-old Sherry Michelle Ahenakew from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, who was reported missing on June 12, has been found near Victoire.
Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release on July 22 that Ahenakew’s body was found in a remote rural area on July 18. Police said she went by her second name Michelle, and that her family had been notified.

RCMP said in the release that the major crimes unit had taken over the investigation shortly after Ahenakew was reported missing, and her death is considered suspicious.
