The City of Saskatoon is expanding its cycling infrastructure with a new “neighbourhood bikeway” along Munroe Avenue between College Drive and 14th Street.
The route connects to the bikeway along 14th Street, the city said, and provides access to the University of Saskatchewan as well.

The city noted that the speed limit along that section of Munroe will be reduced to 30 km/h to accommodate cyclists, starting on Sunday.
“A reduced speed limit is an important component of a neighbourhood bikeway to help create an environment that is comfortable for all levels of cyclists,” the city said in a statement.
“The installation of this neighbourhood bikeway marks another push forward in making Saskatoon a bicycle-friendly city.”
The city said neighbourhood bikeways see cyclists riding in mixed traffic, making them best suited for low-traffic streets with low speeds.
According to the city, the new bikeway was constructed using adaptable materials like signs, pavement markings and pinned rubber curbs, which allowed the design to be adjusted as necessary to address any concerns.
Drivers reminded to stay alert as school resumes
With school starting soon, motorists were reminded to slow down and pay close attention while driving through school zones near elementary schools with posted speed limits of 30 km/h.
Drivers do not have to reduce their speed when travelling through high school areas.
The penalty for speeding in a school zone starts at $170, with additional fines for every kilometre over the speed limit.
U-turns are not permitted in school zones around both elementary and high schools.
