A 16-year-old boy was allegedly attacked by would-be robbers while walking to school in Saskatoon’s Pacific Heights neighbourhood on Thursday morning.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were called to a school in the 100 block of Bowlt Crescent just before 9 a.m. after getting a report of the assault and attempted armed robbery. Police did not name the school in question; both Tommy Douglas Collegiate and Bethlehem Catholic High School are located on that block.

“Upon arrival, a School Resource Officer learned that a 16-year-old male had been walking to school on a pathway behind Langevin Crescent when he was approached by two unknown males,” police explained in a statement.
“The suspects demanded the victim’s property and produced a knife; a brief struggle ensued and the victim received cuts to his head as a result.”
The two suspects – who were described as males of high-school age, one dressed in dark clothing with curly hair and the other with blond hair and a red shirt – were unsuccessful in their attempted robbery and took off before the officers arrived, police said.
The young victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and police said his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
“Members of the School Resource Unit and Patrol are continuing to investigate,” the police force added.
“Anyone with information or video evidence believed to be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact police directly at 306-975-8300 or report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.”
