According to RCMP, the officer allegedly “unlawfully entered the residence” during an interaction with the occupants.
“An altercation then occurred between the officer and an adult male inside the residence,” police said in a statement.
The next day, the adult male involved in the altercation reported a complaint to Moose Jaw RCMP. The man did not report any physical injuries to police.
“As required by The Police Act, 1990, Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) of the altercation. SIRT determined the incident to be out of the scope of their mandate,” it said.
Saskatchewan RCMP started investigating the complaint. Results of the investigation were sent to the Crown to be assessed on Feb. 13.
On Oct. 20, the Crown recommended that the officer should face criminal charges of break and enter and committing assault.
On Wednesday, the Saskatchewan RCMP arrested the officer. He will appear in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Dec. 3.
