Blue Jays fans across Saskatchewan rode every pitch of Game 7, cheering, crying, and holding their breath as Canada’s team came within inches of a World Series title on Saturday.
The L.A. Dodgers beat the Jays 5-4 in heartbreaking extra innings in the winner-takes-all game at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

At Leopold’s Tavern in Regina, the energy was electric until the very end. When the Dodgers clinched it, the bar fell silent before the heartbreak set in.

Shawn Painter says the loss was tough, but the Jays gave Canadians something to be proud of.
“It’s fun to watch a Canadian team make a push for anything world standing,” he said. “Proud to watch the boys take it this far. Game 7’s a lot of fun, and we’ll be back next season without a doubt. Jays to the moon.”
Cody Murray says the loss “just hurts,” describing the emotional rollercoaster of watching his team get so close.
“I’ve been watching them all playoffs thinking, ‘holy, we’re gonna win,’ and then it’s gone,” Murray said. “My heart’s on the floor right now, and there’s not even a janitor here.”
Even through the pain, Murray says Vladimir Guerrero Jr. deserves recognition for his performance.
“Vladdy, man, give him the Order of Freedom. Give him the Victoria Cross. He’s a war hero in this country after that performance.”
In Saskatoon, fans at Boston Pizza shared the same mix of pride, disbelief, and heartbreak. Tim Stevenson didn’t hold back their emotions after the final out.
“They made it to Game 7, they made it to overtime,” Stevenson said. “When Bo Bichette hit that three-run homer, if they’d won, that would’ve gone down with Joe Carter and Bautista as a moment for all time.”

Others tried to take it in stride. Jordan McCallum says fans have plenty to be proud of after a run few expected.
“People didn’t expect the Blue Jays to do very well, and then they finished the season strong,” McCallum said.
“Everyone thought the Dodgers would sweep them, but we pushed them to the end, nearly winning it all.”
Elliot Dignan added that, win or lose, it was still great baseball to watch.
