A 40-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly hitting a pedestrian while driving under the influence on Monday evening.
According to police, officers got a call about an impaired driver on Cameron Street at around 7 p.m. But while the officers were en route to the caller’s location, a second call came in reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle near Eighth Avenue and Athol Street.

“The victim was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle did not remain on scene,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement.
Police said officers spotted the suspect vehicle about 20 minutes later near Elphinstone Street and 13th Avenue, and the driver was arrested after a traffic stop.
The 40-year-old driver is now facing charges of impaired driving, exceeding the blood-alcohol limit within two hours of driving, and failing to stop after an accident. He’s expceted to appear in Regina Provincial Court on November 19, police said.
