One of the teens charged with the killing of Charles Russell Thompson on Boxing Day in 2024 has been sentenced for his manslaughter.
The 15-year-old boy was sentenced on Sept. 19 to two years in secured custody for unlawfully causing Thompson’s death.

He was also sentenced to 20 days concurrent with his current sentence and will be subject to a DNA order and a 10-year firearm ban.
Thompson’s death was ruled as Regina’s 6th homicide of 2024.
Regina police said it happened on Boxing Day in 2024 around Eighth Avenue and Retallack Street.
Police said they found the victim lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries, saying they attended to Thompson until EMS arrived, who were unsuccessful in saving him.
Later, police said Thompson had succumbed to stab wounds. Two days after the incident, two teenage boys were charged and arrested in relation to the killing.
In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the two youths cannot be named.
The other teen, now 16, is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Tuesday.
