According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, the man was taken to the Pasqua Hospital on Oct. 27 due to pre-existing health conditions, and remained at the hospital until his death on Saturday evening.

The ministry said the man’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
“The Saskatchewan Coroners Service have been notified and are investigating,” the ministry noted in a statement. “The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also conduct an internal investigation.”
The death of the 66-year-old inmate on Saturday followed another death at the provincial correctional facility on Thursday.
According to the ministry, a 39-year-old inmate was found unresponsive at the jail just after 11 a.m. on Thursday, and paramedics declared him dead soon after. Foul play was not suspected in that death either, the ministry said.
