“The suspect vehicle did not stop and attempted to flee, but slid into the ditch. Two individuals exited the vehicle and fled into the tree line on foot,” the Mounties said in a statement issued on Thursday.
“RCMP officers contained the area and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services was engaged to assist. Shortly after, a female suspect was arrested without incident. The second suspect was not located.”
Police said the officers found a gun that had been hidden in the trees, and a search of the vehicle turned up about 44 grams of crack cocaine, roughly 65 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded rifle and paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking.
“It was later determined the suspect vehicle was stolen,” the RCMP added.
The 24-year-old Saskatoon woman is now facing charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possessing weapons/firearms contrary to a court order, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and resisting arrest.
She appeared in court Thursday.
Police noted that the pursuit is still under investigation, and asked anyone with information on the case to get in touch with the Saskatchewan RCMP or submit a tip anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
