The Globe Theatre’s production of Disney’s Frozen – The Broadway Musical runs from Jan. 28 to March 1, coinciding with the winter festival.
The theatre’s lobby will be open during Frost to let residents warm up, and a Frozen themed balloon installation will offer visitors a chance to take photos. Hot chocolate and cookies will be offered for sale, and visitors can also take part in “Frozen-inspired hair styling.” Tickets for the musical performance are now available.
“Regina residents are a hearty folk that don’t let the cold months keep them away from community and fun,” Heather Ervin, the theatre’s director of engagement, said in a statement.
“Frost provides ample opportunity to explore the city, and we are excited for our production of Disney’s Frozen to be a key part of the programming this year.”
The festival will also include brunches at the Conexus Arts Centre on Feb. 8 and Feb. 15.
“We’re thrilled to be part of Frost Regina this year. Chef Leo and our culinary team are really excited to share their signature weekend brunch with guests,” Neil Donnelly, the arts centre’s CEO, said in a statement.
“It’s a wonderful way to connect with the community and enjoy great food with family and friends.”
Meanwhile, at the city’s REAL District, visitors can enjoy Olympic-themed activities like street hockey and cross-country skiing. Indigenous cultural and family activities will be held at Confederation Park, and a warming station and marketplace will be operating in the SportsCage Lounge.
“Families, youngsters and those young at heart will be able to experience the magic of winter through activities across Mosaic Stadium and Confederation Park,” Trent Fraser, REAL’s acting CEO, said in a statement.
“From outdoor challenges to festive celebrations, there will be countless ways to embrace — or escape — the season. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in February and celebrate winter together!”
The City of Regina noted that there are exclusive discounts offered at certain hotels for out-of-town visitors attending the festival.
