Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers, with help from the RCMP, seized 111 kilograms of illegal cannabis from a semi truck and trailer last week.
According to the RCMP, Mounties stopped to assist highway patrol officers who had pulled over the tractor-trailer unit on Highway 1, west of Indian Head, on Friday.

“As a result of investigation, officers found approximately 111 kilograms of illegal cannabis and approximately 874 grams of cocaine in the tractor-trailer unit,” the Mounties said in a statement.
A 49-year-old man, a resident of Port Coquitlam, B.C., was arrested at the scene. He’s been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing.
Police said he’s expected to appear in an Indian Head courtroom in March.
“The collaboration between Indian Head RCMP and the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol resulted in a substantial drug seizure,” Sgt. Miles Kelly, detachment commander for the Indian Head RCMP, said in a statement.
“Together they kept more than 100 kilograms of illicit drugs from reaching their intended destinations.”
Michael Weger, Saskatchewan’s community safety minister, said strong policing partnerships help improve safety for everyone.
“Saskatchewan Highway Patrol and the RCMP continue to work together to help keep our province strong, safe and secure, and I thank the officers involved for their commitment to this work,” Weger said, quoted in an RCMP statement.
