People who work downtown now have another food option – the Capital City Kitchen, which held its grand opening at the Regina City Hall cafeteria on Tuesday.
“Capital City Kitchen is a new meeting place for our employees, our neighbours and the thousands of people who work and visit downtown every day,” said Mayor Chad Bachynski. “Thanks to Tim and Shane, this corner of City Hall is being brought back to life with the kind of heart, hospitality and homegrown flavour that Regina is known for.”

The teams behind Dad’s Diner and Hillside Smoke N Que run the new operation.
“The new cafeteria will feature daily hot specials, fresh-made breakfast, grab-and-go items and a rotating menu inspired by Saskatchewan flavours,” the city said in a statement.
“We want Capital City Kitchen to feel like a place where everyone is welcome,” co-owner Tim Philp added. “Good food brings people together and we’re excited to serve the downtown community.”
The city said visitors “can expect hearty comfort food, lighter options,” with new dishes added based on customer feedback.
“This is more than just a cafeteria – it’s a community space,” said co-owner Shane Folk. “We’re proud to share food that’s local, simple and made with care.”
People can find the Capital City Kitchen on the main floor of Regina City Hall.
Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
