The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced on Sunday they re-signed American running back A.J. Ouellette to a one-year contract extension.
One of the team’s top performers on offence in 2025 had remained without a contract until Sunday morning, the first day of the 2026 Free Agency negotiating window.

After an injury-filled 2024, Ouellette bounced back in in 2025 and played in 17 games recording 1,222 yards with eight rushing touchdowns — one of which was a 47-yarder — and caught 35 passes for 250 yards, the Roughriders said in a news release.
In the Western Final, Ouellette rushed 17 times for 113 yards in a 24-21 home-field victory over the B.C. Lions before carrying the ball 17 times for 83 yards and one touchdown in the 25-17 Grey Cup win over the Montreal Alouettes.
Ouellette first signed with the Roughriders in 2024 after spending his first four CFL seasons with the Toronto Argonauts.
Ouellette also spent time in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns.
