Two Saskatchewan school divisions reported losses in the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year, and both were related to unauthorized use of corporate cards.
According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education, the Prairie South School Division lost $2,016 after an employee used a gas card to make “unauthorized gas purchases” between January and mid-September of 2025.

“The employee is no longer employed by the school division, and the matter has been reported to the police,” the ministry noted.
The second, larger loss in the first quarter — which ran from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 2025 — saw the Lloydminster Roman Catholic Separate School Division lose $16,161 when an employee misappropriated the funds, which the ministry said included cash and the use of a corporate card to purchase personal items.
Some of the funds have already been recovered, however, and the division expects to recover the full amount.
“The matter has been reported to the RCMP and the employee is no longer employed with the school division,” the ministry said.
“Thus far, the school division has been able to recover $10,341 and the former employee has committed to making payments to return the remaining.”
