Air Liquide Canada describes itself as “a leading provider of industrial, specialized and medical gases.”
“The company was charged with contravening subsection 9-22(6) of the regulations (being an employer at a place of employment, fail to develop and implement a traffic control plan to protect the worker from traffic hazards, resulting in a serious injury of a worker),” the ministry said in a statement.
“One additional charge was withdrawn.”
As a result, the company was fined $71,428.51, along with a victim fine surcharge of $28,571.43, for a total payment of $100,000.
“The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 21, 2023, near Saskatoon,” the ministry explained. “A worker was seriously injured after being hit by a forklift.”
