No timeline has been shared yet, but the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has come to a deal to take over operations of 139 long-term care beds at the Capital Crossing Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Regina.
In a news release, the authority said it will work with the Brightwater management team to transfer operations and ensure continuity of care for residents and families. The health authority will also lease the Capital Crossing building.

“This transition is being designed to ensure stability for residents and families, while strengthening the integration of these existing spaces within Saskatchewan’s publicly operated long-term care system,” said SHA Chief Operating Officer Derek Miller in the release.
A staffing transition plan is being developed, but the authority said no immediate changes are being made.
The health authority said Brightwater had bid on a request for proposals for up to 200 long-term care beds in the Regina area in February 2024, then the management team approached the authority about moving the home to SHA operations.
Brightwater Senior Living was also successful in a request for proposals in 2020 for long-term care spaces in the Regina area, along with Emmanuel Villa Personal Care Home.
Those beds were offered to residents of Regina Pioneer Village after many were relocated due to building and structural problems like mould. The deal was set to last for two years, with a potential for extension.
