Thanks to the actions of a Lloydminster business owner and the power of social media, a stolen WWE Hall of Fame ring will soon be back on the hand of its rightful owner.
The ring, along with a number of other items were taken sometime between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning after a locked trailer parked outside a hotel was broken into.

Harry Smith, the son of “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith and an accomplished wrestler in his own right, is currently touring with Canadian Wrestling’s Elite and they had done a show in the city.
When news broke of what happened, a number of social media posts flooded the internet.
Craig Hubbard, Owner of U Bet Ya Thrift Store was among the people who saw the posts and told paNOW about a year and a half ago he began buying gold. He’s also a longtime wrestling fan and was well aware of what the ring would mean to Harry Smith and the entire Hart family.
“Obviously I was hoping that they would come try to sell it and then they did, which was weird, but in all fairness, yeah he came in and I looked at the ring like I normally would, but at that time, I knew it was stolen”
As part of their investigation, RCMP had come to the store after the theft and left a contact card. After instructing one of his managers to call the provided number, Hubbard stalled the man.
“I didn’t know his name or anything, but he said he had purchased it on the streets.”
As the manager called police, Hubbard proceeded to inspect the ring and check the weight. The engravings inside the ring further confirmed he had the right item but as time passed, Hubbard began to panic.
“I kind of just said to him this ring is stolen. It’s all over all the news, all over Facebook. And he said well give it to me back to me because I’ll get a reward for it. And I was like no.”
Moments later police arrived and arrested the man.
According to Alberta RCMP on Friday, the man is known to police as a prolific offender.
“Upon search incidental to arrest, police found two additional items of jewelry on the male, which had also been reported to police as stolen in this matter,” they said.
The 41-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with trafficking property obtained by crime over $5000 and held in custody for a judicial hearing but has since been released with conditions and ordered to attend court again on March 10.
Hubbard stated the man arrested at the store did cooperate with officers.
In 2020, posthumously, “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The legendary wrestler who won multiple championships over the course of his career, including the Intercontinental Championship at Summerslam in 1992, passed away in 2002.
On Friday, Harry Smith’s mother Diana Hart posted to social media, expressing her own excitement the ring was recovered.
