The Saskatchewan RCMP says officers in Loon Lake found a trove of illegal items inside a vehicle after arresting an impaired driver, and two people are now facing charges.
According to police, officers tried top stop a vehicle in Loon Lake at about 12:20 a.m. on Thursday, but the driver fled south on Highway 26 before stopping on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.

“The officers observed signs the driver was impaired and arrested him,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“As a result of continued investigation, the officer located and seized a small quantity of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a loaded firearm magazine, a can of bear mace, and two firearms. The passenger of the vehicle was also arrested.”
Police said the 24-year-old driver was charged with fleeing from a peace officer and impaired driving, and also received “multiple traffic-related tickets and a ticket for having open alcohol in a vehicle.”
He’s expected to appear in court in Meadow Lake in May, the RCMP noted.
The 23-year-old passenger, meanwhile, is facing three counts of possession of a weapon contrary to an order, three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm, along with charges of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition without a licence, possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
He appeared in court in Meadow Lake on Monday, police said.
