A would-be burglar in Regina was arrested on Monday morning after he was found in the chimney stack of a local business.
The man was later hospitalized due to injuries caused by a police dog.
According to police, officers were alerted about an alarm at a business on Dewdney Avenue at around 4:25 a.m. When they arrived, police said the officers found “a human-sized hole in a rear fence,” and heard footsteps on the roof.

“Officers conducted a search of the premises; however, no individuals were located inside the business,” the police force said in a statement. “A suspect was subsequently located hiding in a chimney stack of an adjoining building.”
Police alleged that the man resisted arrest and officers “deployed” a dog, causing what the force described as “minor injuries consistent with a dog bite” during the man’s eventual arrest.
Despite the “minor” nature of his injuries, police said the 33-year-old burglary suspect was assessed by paramedics and then hospitalized “for further evaluation.”
He’s now facing four counts of breaking and entering to commit theft, and police said he appeared in provincial court on Monday. According to the statement from police, he was not charged with resisting arrest.
