The Canada 55+ Games, an event that was first held in Regina in 1996, is returning to the Queen City next summer.
The event, which is scheduled to run from Aug. 21-24, 2028, will bring together around 2,000 competitors from every province and territory to compete in 21 different events.

“Regina is thrilled to welcome the Canada 55+ Games back home in 2028,” Mayor Chad Bachynski said in a statement.
“Our city has a long and proud history with these Games, and we’re excited to once again showcase the spirit, energy and hospitality that define our community.”
Bachynski said the event promotes active living and community connections, and said the city is ready to cheer on the competitors.
The event will receive funding from Tourism Saskatchewan, the City of Regina and the Regina Hotel Association.
“The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to support the 2028 Canada 55+ Senior Games being hosted in the city of Regina,” Alana Ross, the minister responsible for Tourism Saskatchewan, said in a statement.
“This national event brings participants from across Canada together to celebrate active living, sport and community connection. It is also a wonderful opportunity to showcase Regina’s outstanding hosting capabilities and highlight Saskatchewan as a welcoming destination for visitors.”
The Canada 55+ Games includes 15 mandatory events and six optional events, which will be determined by the local organizers.
