Drug trafficking charges were laid by Regina police after a vehicle sped away from officers attempting to stop it on Thursday night.
Regina Police Service (RPS) said in a news release that officers patrolling in the area of 5th Avenue and Garnet Street on April 30 around 9 p.m. spotting the speeding vehicle and attempted to follow it from a distance.

Police said the driver ran a red light at 7th Avenue and Lewvan Drive, before heading west on Lewvan Drive. Officers then attempted a traffic stop near Regina Avenue but aid the driver did not stop.
Officers on patrol then spotted the vehicle puling into the parking lot of a business on Harvard Way.
Police said the man who was driving, was taken into custody but a woman passenger tried to run away. After a short foot chase and a brief struggle, police said she was also taken into custody.
Police said a search after the arrest resulted in officers finding an unspecified quantity of methamphetamine, items associated with drug trafficking and bear spray.
The 40-year-old driver has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, flight from peace officer and possession of a weapon. His 41-year-old passenger was charged with resisting arrest and identity fraud.
Both were scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on May 1.
Youth, 17, facing two robbery charges
A 17 year-old youth has been charged with two counts of robbery after an incident that occurred outside a business in the 3500 block of Dewdney Avenue earlier in the week.
RPS said police were called around 10:30 p.m. on April 28 and a man then told officers he and a second man were leaving the business when they were assaulted and had personal items stolen by a group of people. One of the victims suffered minor injuries, police said. They did not say what they were.
On April 30, search warrants were then executed on two homes in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street, assisted by members of the SWAT team, Patrol Unit and Street Gang Unit and the 17 year-old youth was arrested.
He was scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Youth Court on May 1.
