Victoria Day on Monday is a federal celebration of the sovereign’s birthday in Canada, and since 1952 it has fallen on the Monday preceding May 25.
The date was solidified in May 2023 so it would apply not only to King Charles III, but also to all future monarchs of Canada.
Here’s a list of what’s open and closed in Regina today:
Civic Offices: Closed.
Landfill: Open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Entry gates close at 5:15 p.m.
Household Hazardous Waste Material Depot: Closed.
Waste Collection: Garbage, recycling, food and yard collections will be picked up as per usual schedule.
Regina Transit: Service using the Sunday schedule will be provided. Information Centre and RIDELine closed.
Paratransit Service: Operating on a holiday schedule from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Parking meters: Pay parking not in effect.
Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery and Regina Cemetery: Office closed. Gates open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Leisure centres:
- North West Leisure Centre: Open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre: Open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sportplex – Fieldhouse & Lawson Aquatic Centre: Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre: Open 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
