Traffic stop leads to weapons charges

On May 16 around noon, officers reported a vehicle parked in an alley was observed in the 3100 block of Dewdney Avenue.
“Officers initiated a traffic stop,” Regina police said in a release. “During the stop, officers observed illegal cigarettes on the center console of the front seat. All four occupants were subsequently taken into custody.”
The vehicle was searched after the arrest and a locked compartment in the seats of the vehicle was found to contain a semi-automatic rifle and 10 rounds of ammunition. Police also located and seized a baton, two knives and bear spray.
Two people were released and two are now facing charges, a 37 year old man – charged with possession of a firearm – and a 43-year-old man, who is facing several weapon-related charges.
