This week’s warm weather has many people across the prairies preparing for summer.
The late spring that was filled with snow, rain and clouds has finally disappeared, with many now facing a scorching sun and temperatures rising above the 30 C mark.

Randy Malinoski, the general manager at Martin Motor Sports in Saskatoon, said the late warm up has had an impact on his business.
“This year we’re probably a little bit behind because of the weather,” he said. “Probably three or four weeks behind where we normally would be.”
When it comes to this week’s warm up, Malinoski said the taste of summer has brought in a lot of customers at once.
“The phone’s ringing off the hook for guys who need service and different things like that,” he said.
“Summer kind of just snuck up on everybody, and this week got nice, and I don’t think people were really thinking about it the last couple weeks or last month, so it just kind of all hit at once.”
If someone needs to get their boat serviced, Malinoski said they would likely be looking at a minimum of a two-week wait.
“That’s fairly standard. I mean, it might be a little bit more than normal, but not a whole lot,” he said.
With the sudden influx of customers, he said his team will likely be busy all the way through the summer.
“Usually we go right through July, and then it slows down in August, basically. I find we’re backed right up right till the end of July,” he said.
Malinoski said plenty of people have been buying boats this season.
“April was really busy. In May, with the weather and with the flooding and everything that kind of went on at the start of May, it seemed to slow it down a little bit, and then we’ve seen a big pickup here again in the last couple weeks,” said Malinoski.
