Calgary man flees from police at high speed: RCMP
A man from Alberta has been arrested by the Saskatchewan RCMP after allegedly fleeing from police on Highway 1.
The Moose Jaw RCMP said a vehicle was seen driving “at a high rate of speed” shortly after noon on Wednesday.
Police said officers caught up with the vehicle east of Rush Lake, and said the driver was travelling “over 200 kilometres per hour in a 110 kilometre per hour zone.”
The driver did not stop when officers activated their emergency lights, police said, and continued west down Highway 1.
“A short time later, the vehicle stopped and the driver was arrested by police outside of a business off Highway #1 in Swift Current,” police said.
A 27-year-old man from Calgary has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from a police officer.
The man also received a ticket for driving more than 50 km/h over the speed limit, which also carries a seven-day license suspension, a 30-day vehicle impoundment and a $580 fine.
