Regina police have laid several charges against a 29-year-old woman after a theft investigation allegedly led to the assault of an officer.
Police responded on June 2 to a report of a theft at a business in the 2100 block of 11th Avenue. Officers from the downtown safety team responded.
“Through investigation, officers learned an adult female entered the business, stole a variety of clothing items and left without paying,” Regina police said in a release.

“Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect a short time later.”
The suspect, according to police, was taken to the Regina Police Service detention unit.
“During the intake process, the suspect assaulted one of the officers,” the release stated.
The officer who was alleged to be assaulted was taken to the hospital for assessment and later released.
The 29-year-old woman is facing charges of theft under $5,000, assault of a police officer causing bodily harm and failure to comply with a probation order.
Her first appearance in Regina Provincial Court was on June 3.
