La Ronge RCMP is working to locate Sampson Roberts, who is wanted on a warrant in relation to a shooting investigation.
On June 11 at approximately 2:45 p.m., police received a report of a shooting on Bird Place. An investigation determined an altercation occurred between two men outside a residence. During the altercation, one of the men discharged a firearm and the second man was injured.
The armed man left driving a car he took from the scene. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious, but non-life-threatening, in nature.
On the morning of June 12, officers located and recovered the car the suspect was described as driving at the time of the incident. At this time, the suspect has not been located.
As a result, 25-year-old Sampson Roberts from the La Ronge area is charged with discharging a firearm with intent, robbery with a firearm, operation while prohibited, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, and weapons possession contrary to order.
A warrant has been issued for Roberts’s arrest, and police continue to work to locate him and ask members of the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts.
Roberts is described as 5-foot-7, 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
