Police in Regina say a young boy was hospitalized on Wednesday evening after he and another child were allegedly attacked by a dog.
According to police, officers patrolling in the area of Sixth Avenue and Garnet Street, in the city’s North Central neighbourhood, were flagged down by two children who reported the attack at around 8 p.m.

“One child had a visible wound on his face,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement. “The victims also reported they witnessed the dog attack another dog in a nearby yard.”
Police said the injured child was taken to hospital by paramedics, but noted that his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
“Animal Protection officers and police located the dog at a residence a short distance away,” the police force added. “At this time, the dog is in the custody of Animal Protection.”
The Regina Police Service said Animal Protection has taken the lead on the investigation, as is standard practice, with police assisting as necessary.
