Another Saskatchewan inmate released from custody by mistake

The Government of Saskatchewan is reporting another inmate who was mistakenly released from a provincial jail, the third such incident since early March.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Community Safety, Keleisha Jackson, a 26-year-old inmate at the Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford Integrated Correctional Facility was released from custody back on March 19 “following an administrative error.” She’s now considered unlawfully at large.

Jackson was in custody while facing “charges related to assault and confinement,” but the government noted that she “is not believed to pose a risk to public safety.”

Jackson was described as five-foot-three in height, weighing 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who spots her was encouraged to report the sighting to police.

The incident follows two similar cases at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre, the first of which saw inmate Dagan Mckenzie released by mistake on March 4.

Earlier this week, the ministry revealed that inmate Brednor Wahpistikwan was accidentally released from the same jail, where he was being held on remand for four weapons-related charges, on May 28. Once again, an “administrative error” was blamed for the premature release.
