NEW YORK — Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Ernie Clement leads all American League players in fan balloting for the 2026 all-star game in Philadelphia.
Clement moved ahead of Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez in the latest voting update from Major League Baseball on Monday.
Clement, who has a .292 average with seven homers and 28 RBIs over 75 games, has received 2,054,130 total votes, MLB said. The 30-year-old has a healthy lead on Ezequiel Duran (531,182) of the Texas Rangers.
Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers leads all players with 2,310,735 total votes.
Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1,458,461) is well ahead of New York’s Ben Rice (882,772) in the voting for AL first baseman. At third base, Blue Jays teammate Kazuma Okamoto (1,282,884) is a close second behind Junior Caminero (1,310,879) of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Three other Toronto players –catcher Alejandro Kirk, designated hitter George Springer and shortstop Andres Gimenez — are all second in positional voting but well behind the leaders.
The first phase of voting continues until Thursday. The starters and full all-star rosters will be named on July 4.
