A body recovered from the South Saskatchewan River on Thursday has been tentatively identified as Adan Vargas Salvador, a 32-year-old missing jet skier.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, the remains were found in the RM of Corman Park near the Clarksboro Ferry. The identity of the body has not yet been confirmed through dental records, but police said Salvador’s family has been notified about the discovery.

Salvador went missing on June 20 after the jet ski he was riding went over the weir in Saskatoon. His death came shortly after a release of water from the Gardiner Dam on Lake Diefenbaker, raising the river’s levels and significantly increasing its flow rate, prompting multiple safety warnings.
Police previously said Salvador, a Mexican national, was a visitor in Saskatoon at the time of his death.
A buoy line meant to keep boaters clear of the weir was damaged by the fast-flowing water prior to Salvador’s death. The safety line has since been replaced by the Saskatoon Rowing Club.
“The SPS would like to thank our partner agencies who took part in this search; Saskatoon Fire Department, RCMP, Warman Fire Department, Corman Park Police, the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) and members of the public who provided information,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
Reports that Salvador’s body had been found surfaced early Friday morning when HEART, the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team, posted a video on its Facebook page sharing an update on the search. HEART search lead Manuel Maendel shared that a body had been found.
According Maendel, Salvador’s family had contacted the organization, which offers free services to families looking for a loved one, for help.
Salvador’s sister, Rosa Maria Salvador then shared HEART’s video on her personal Facebook account.
“Thank you so much for your help,” she wrote. “We are truly grateful to everyone who helped us there to find my brother.”
While police are waiting for the final confirmation of Salvador’s identity, Maendel noted that “there’s nobody else reported missing” in the area.
