Police in Regina are warning the public that there’s no cause for alarm if anyone spots police officers rappelling down the sides of the Regina General Hospital on Thursday.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m., Regina Police Service officers are on site at the hospital for SWAT team training exercises.

Regina police said officers may be visible on top of and around the hospital, and multiple police vehicles will be parked in the area. The training, police said, will include rappel work.
“This training location is a healthcare facility. As such, members of the media and the public are required to refrain from taking pictures and filming this training,” police said in a release.
Police noted that the airspace above and around the hospital is “completely restricted” to ensure the safe operation of the STARS helicopter.
“Please do not operate drones in or near this area,” police advised. “This includes the safety of the staff, patients and those in the area.”
Police thanked community partners, including Regina General Hospital and the Saskatchewan Health Authority for their part in helping aid community safety.
“Consistent, collaborative training with our community partners and stakeholders is important to ensure everyone is prepared and knows what their role is in the case of a real emergency,” police said.
