WITH GUEST HOST BRENT LOUCKS
8:30 – Canada has temporarily dodged 50 per cent tariffs on roughly $28B worth of goods after U.S. President Donald Trump announced late last night he would delay the levies for three days. Does this back-and-forth and constant uncertainty have an impact on our economy? Jason Childs, professor of economics at the University of Regina, joins guest host Brent Loucks to explain.
Listener Question: Does the tariff pause feel like a win for Canada? Or is this kicking the problem down the road, leading to more uncertainty?
9:00 – It’s Aviation Week in Saskatchewan, and it’s a chance to highlight the people and aircraft that play a critical role in keeping the province safe. Peter Boniface, Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency Acting Vice-President, Operations, joins Brent to talk about the important role aviation crews play when it comes to the wildfire season.
LQ: Do you think we should be investing more money in wildfire aircraft and crews?
9:30 – It’s been 35 years since one of Saskatchewan’s most famous fossils was discovered — Scotty the T. rex. To dig into Scotty’s story and what scientists have learned from him, we’re joined by Dr. Ryan McKeller, curator of paleontology at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum.
10:00 – A new store in Saskatoon is offering a different kind of shopping experience, with shelves stocked entirely with non-alcoholic beverages. We’re joined by James Kramer and Harrison Hall, the owners behind Dry Supply, to talk with Brent about the growing non-alcoholic beverage market and what inspired them to open it.
LQ: Would you pay the same price for a non-alcoholic drink as you would for the alcoholic version?
10:30 – After decades of writing songs on the side, Ryan Meili has finally released his debut album with his band, Blue Umbrella, a Saskatoon folk rock band. He joins Brent to talk about the album, the band and what it’s like trading politics for the music scene.

11:30 – Cineplex just posted the best second quarter in the company’s history! Theatre attendance climbed to 12.7 million and the company swung from a loss last year to a $7.8-million profit. To talk about what might be bringing people back to the theatres, Brent is joined by Craig Siliphant, The Movie Geek and pop culture critic.
LQ: What gets you to go to a theatre? Snacks, FOMO for the latest blockbuster, a family experience, or something else?
12:00 – Brent revisits his conversation with Jason Childs, University of Regina professor of economics.
