A 56-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly fleeing from police at high speed in a stolen truck before crashing into a deck.
According to police, officers stopped a truck in the area of Avenue R North and 23rd Street West just before 3 a.m. Police said the driver gave a false name, and when officers told him he was under arrest, he took off at high speed, “nearly striking multiple police officers.”

Officers used a plane to monitor the truck from the air until the driver crashed into the front deck of a home on Witney Avenue South. The driver fled on foot, police said, but was quickly arrested.
Police said the driver was found to be wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
He’s now facing charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, evading police, motor vehicle theft, fraudulent impersonation and mischief.
“Three passengers of the truck were also taken into custody but were later released with no charges,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
