Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop turned into a pursuit on Sunday morning.
According to police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was believed to be stolen and was carrying a licence plate that didn’t match its registration in the area of Kirk Crescent and Main Street just a few minutes after midnight.

“Officers followed the vehicle to attempt a traffic stop; however, the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed through a red light,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“The vehicle continued to evade police and disobey traffic lights until members of the Air Support Unit were able to begin monitoring the vehicle from the sky. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 10 block of Beerling Crescent where four occupants exited and began to flee on foot.”
Police said all four occupants were caught and taken into custody.
The 43-year-old man who was allegedly behind the wheel is now facing charges of dangerous driving, evading police, possession of stolen property over $5,000, obstruction and breaching court-imposed conditions.
A 24-year-old woman who was also in the vehicle was also charged with breaching court-imposed conditions, police said, while the remaining two occupants of the vehicle were released without charges.
Man charged after allegedly evading cops at high speed
A 32-year-old man who was subject to a Canada-wide driving prohibition was arrested after allegedly evading police in Saskatoon on Sunday evening.
According to police, officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Diefenbaker Drive and 22nd Street West just before midnight on Sunday. While the vehicle initially came to a stop, police said the driver took off at high speed when officers approached.
“The vehicle continued to evade police before eventually being located unoccupied behind a residence on Miyowahkohtowin Road,” police said in a statement. “Officers were able to search the residence where the driver was located and arrested without further incident.”
Police said the driver has been charged with dangerous driving, evading police and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Crash leads to impaired driving charge: Police
A man is facing an impaired driving charge after an early Saturday crash in Saskatoon.
Saskatoon police said officers were called to Circle Drive and 33rd Street West just before 5 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Responding officers found two vehicles involved in the crash. A man and a woman who were inside one of the vehicles were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Officers administered a breath test with an alcohol screening device to the driver of the other vehicle, and police said he failed it. Police arrested the 26-year-old man, who now faces charges of impaired driving and exceeding .08.
Man charged after allegedly stabbing woman during domestic dispute
A 20-year-old man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old woman during a domestic dispute.
According to police, officers were called to Main Street just after 1 p.m. where they found the woman suffering “non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing.” She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police said officers arrested a 20-year-old man who was also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants. He’s now facing charges of aggravated assault, assault, mischief and breaching court-imposed conditions.
The man was scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday, police said.
Crash early Monday morning
Another two-vehicle crash happened on Sept. 14 on Saskatoon’s Central Avenue, restricting northbound traffic on the street.
According to Saskatoon police, the crash happened near Gray Avenue just after 8 a.m.
Police said those involved were not believed to have any life-threatening injuries.
