The Mulatz family of Maple Creek is going home with $1 million after picking up their giant cheque from Saskatchewan Lotteries in Regina.
Connie Mulatz says winning the lottery still feels surreal. She bought the ticket for the Sept. 25 Lotto Max Maxmillions draw at the Convenience Plus Store in Maple Creek. She remembers going to the pharmacy to check her tickets from the past couple of months.
“I won $2, and $10 and a free play and all of a sudden she said you won, you won big and I couldn’t believe it I was in shock,” Connie Mulatz explained. “My daughter phoned my husband and he thought it was a joke, he didn’t believe us.”
Connie Mulatz works at the hospital in Maple Creek and Kevin Mulatz works at a car dealership. They have two daughters ages 11 and 13.
“First and foremost we’re going to pay off our mortgage and some bills, save for our daughters’ educations and maybe do a couple trips,” she said.
Their first trip will be to take the whole family to Disneyworld, then they plan to take a second trip with the other side of the family.
