More guns that were originally stolen from Wholesale Sports in Regina’s east end four years ago have turned up in cities across Canada.
News Talk Radio has learned from Regina police that a total of nine out of 52 stolen firearms have been found since they were first taken in December 2011 after a break and enter to the sporting goods store.
In February 2012, five guns were found in Calgary including one rifle, two handguns and two shotguns.
Two years later, in May 2014, one handgun was found in Winnipeg during a traffic stop. Three months later, another handgun was discovered in the basement of a house in Calgary. Then in October of the same year, a handgun was recovered during another drug search, again in Calgary.
Last January, a sixth handgun stolen from Wholesale Sports was found in Toronto.
No more guns have been found since that time, leaving 43 still unaccounted for. Regina police said the cases in which the stolen guns were found are not connected, other than where the guns originated from in Regina.
No charges have ever been laid in connection to the break-in and theft at Wholesale Sports. Officers also say there are no leads at this time on any suspects.
