A 30-year-old Alberta man is facing charges for illegal possession of weapons and assault after an incident in Indian Head on Sunday.
RCMP officers got a call about an assault at a camper trailer at a work site outside Indian Head at 11:15 p.m. on Monday. When officers arrived they learned that a male suspect had access to multiple guns and had made threats to harm others.
For safety reasons they called in File Hills Police Service, White Butte Detachment and Police Dog Services for backup to contain the area around the worksite. At 7:30 a.m. the next morning, the man left his trailer and started to drive away in a truck. He was taken into custody without incident.
Acting on a search warrant, officers seized multiple firearms along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition and prohibited high capacity ammunition magazines.
Brendan Wagner of Ponoka, Alberta appeared in Provincial Court in Fort Qu’appelle on Thursday. He is facing three charges of possession of a firearm while prohibited and three counts of possession of a firearm obtained by crime along with one count of assault.
