The Regina Folk Festival wrapped up on Sunday night, with the last performance being by The Mavericks.
Organizers of the festival are happy with how the event went.
Sandra Butel is the artistic director and CEO of the festival and she said the weather helped make this year’s event a success.
“The weather has been fantastic … we have been really lucky.”
Butel said there were many people who pitched in to make it a great festival.
“We have such a great team of staff and volunteers … it’s been a great weekend.”
Butel said it appeared the attendance number were not too different from previous years.
“Attendance numbers are really similar to previous years, probably yesterday (Saturday) we had more people during the day then we’ve had in previous years.”
Butel estimated that over 30,000 people came through Victoria Park over the weekend.
After all that hard work it’s time for a breather. Butel said organizers will take some time off before starting work on next year’s event.
“We take a little break after – I would say we go into a coma for a couple weeks.”
Butel said as they start winding down the year’s festival organizers are always taking notes on what could be done better in future years.
