Regina police seize knife, shotgun and masks after pulling over vehicle

Pulling over a vehicle for erratic driving Tuesday night led to finding weapons and masks, and the arrest of a man wanted on warrants according to Regina Police Service.

Officers were in Cathedral, and said they saw a red hatchback vehicle just before 7 p.m. It was pulled over near 13th Avenue and Elphinstone Street.

Police said at first, the driver wouldn’t give them ID or tell them his name – they also noticed a knife in the vehicle within reach of the driver.

He eventually gave the officers a fake name, but they were able to figure out his identity and discovered he was wanted on warrants.

The driver was arrested and the vehicle towed. In a later search of the vehicle, police found plastic masks, knives, and a shotgun.

Ramie Louis Bellegarde, 36, was charged on eight counts: careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, carrying a concealed prohibited device, possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition, obstruction of a peace officer, and three counts of breach of probation.
